| Jin 45-501x / XJ-5303 | In This Letter | Ronnie Bennett with Johnny Winter and the Jammers (Edgar Winter) - The Crazy Cajun Music (R.Bennett / Huey P. Meaux) - This single was a hit around September-October 1960 . The numbering of this single is confusing, but this is probable due to Huey Meaux's envolvement. This was most likely recorded by Huey, and contracted to be pressed by JIN. And JIN was not using their catalog system for his material. Which also explains why JIN #174, Texas Guitar Slim actually came out with a catalog number that had already been used by JIN for another release, and ALSO does not appear in their website as a JIN release. By the time the Ronnie Bennett and Ben Terrell releases that credit "and Johnny Winters' Band" were recorded (2 years later), Johnny and Huey were not working together, these were recorded by JIN and considered part of their catalog (too bad too, cause Huey was a better recording eng.). The numbering system leads people to think this was a much later release, when in fact it was recorded basically at the same time or before the Jammers' single on Dart (which was recorded by Huey too). |
