Introduction
Goldband Records
Eddie Shuler ran several wonderful independent-labels around Lake Charles, Louisiana. The most well-known of them were Goldband (from 1945) and Folk Star Records (from 1949). Mean ol' Eddie's artist selection were also impressive, and many of these people made here their first recordings: Al Ferrier, Johnny Jano, Iry LeJeune, Guitar Junior, Hop Wilson, Dolly Parton, Juke Boy Bonner, Jo-El Sonnier, Rockin' Sidney, Boozoo Chavis, Mickey Gilley, Katie Webster, Freddy Fender, etc.
The Goldband recording of Jay Richards and the Blues Kings is Johnny Winter on guitar on "I Reach For A Moment", and Edgar on "Hear Love Knocking", and it sounds like Bobby Mizzell, and a really mixed down Johnny on guitar
