John Hammond:
Got Love If You Want It
Charisma 92124-2
1992
4 / 5 Stars
How many living white blues artists do you know who possess
the long-held respect and admiration that John Hammond has from black blues
legends?
There are guitarists Eric Clapton and Johnny Winter and probably harp
player Charlie Musselwhite. After that, it gets tough to come up with
another. Hammond has been playing at least as long as those veteran blues stars,
and more than any of them, he's kept his blues vision pure and unadulterated,
without subordinating blues style for rock audiences.
