Synopsis of the DVD Movie: Synopsis
Car theft in Long Beach went down 47% when Randall "Memphis" Raines walked away from the life. He gets dragged back into it by assuming the job his brother Kip screwed up for stolen-car broker Raymond Calitri: steal 50 exotic cars and have them on a container ship by 8 AM Friday morning, and he got this news on a Monday. With Calitri threatening to kill him and Kip, and the police GRAB unit breathing down his neck, Memphis reassembles his old crew and attempts to pull off the logistically impossible.

Kip Raines, a young car thief, was contracted to steal 50 specific cars but something went wrong. Now the man who hired him, Raymond Calitri, wants his head. When his brother, Memphis, once a great car thief, who retired a few years ago, learns of this, he comes back to town to see if he can help his brother. The only thing that will appease Calitri is if the order is fulfilled. So Memphis has to assemble his old crew, and he has to do the job in a few days. And a cop who hounded him, upon learning of his return, is keeping an eye on him. Fixed side mirror
When Nicholas Cage finally steals the car he fears, it takes him awhile to do
any damage to it. Eventually, he will knock off the passenger door mirror. At
that point, the car will stall. After begging and pleading with it, the car
starts. As Nicholas Cage pulls away with a police car in pursuit, you will see a behind
and slightly above the two cars view. Miraculously the passenger side mirror
is back in its original place, firmly secured to the car.
Visible wire
During the big chase scene, an Asian police officer will come flying out of
an alley and get broadsided by a streetcar. Look closely at the undercarriage
of the police car and the road to see a steel wire. The wire is secured to the
front of the police car's axle, runs along the entire undercarriage of the car,
and across the street into the alley from which the car emerged from. You can
see it best when you are looking at the driver's side of the police car, just
when the streetcar rams into its passenger side. The wire along the ground will
flail around on the street because of the slack caused by the impact. Also,
after the streetcar hits the police car and crushes it against another car,
a fire will ignite which clearly shows the steel cable under the police car.
Unburned toast
When Nicholas Cage is in his brother's kitchen, and his brother is cooking him
breakfast, you can see a shot of the toaster smoking. When he pops the toast
up, you can see that it is visibly black. When he goes to put the toast on Cage's
plate, you can see both sides of the toast, and it appears that the toast is
cooked quite nicely, and not burnt at all.
Switched seats
Go to the sequence when Randolph and Kip are driving down the street and are
being shot at. Immediately before they are shot at, they are talking and sitting
in a vehicle with cloth captain chairs. When they are cut off, they are driving
a junk car with vinyl seats.
Jaguar XJ220 timing
During a shot of them loading cars, you will see a Jaguar XJ220 pull in, yet
it is quite a later point in the movie that Sway pulls up in the car and says,
"I love that car." Also, the car is crossed off much earlier than
it is stolen.

Reviews of the movie: Gone in 60 Seconds
Action films are difficult buisness. Audiences today expect ever impressive action, smooth one-liners and enough explosions to make John McClane jump off a 20-storey building. While these two films don't reach the excellent heights of THE ROCK and FACE OFF, they're still fun entertainment. The pairing of two of Nicholas Cage's most high-octane action-addrenalin films sits together well, with both GONE IN 60 SECONDS and CON AIR making a very satisfying action night. Produced by action maestro Jerry Bruckheimer, CON AIR is one of my favourite Nic Cage films (Second only to FACE OFF). Effortlessly cool, it's a must-have DVD. This has tons of action, smart one-liners, great actors (John Malcovich as "The Virus" and Steve Buscemi as Garland Greene) and the Bruckheimer M.O: awesome action and big things exploding. Great fun. Directed by Dominic Sena, GONE IN 60 SECONDS isn't as impressive, and although Cage is cool, Angelina Jolie doesn't do much. Director Sena (SWORDFISH) spends too much time on un-interesting sup-plots and not enough on fun action set-pieces. The last 20 minutes are very exciting though, with a montage of high-speed chases in trademark Bruckheimer style. Not as good as THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, but if you want a fast car chase flick with incredible action, then this is a must.
One for the money; two for the show; 48 more boosts to
go.
Very shallow script; lame story line; wasted star studded cast; but enough action
to keep your eyes on the screen. Lovers of fine cars will be in Heaven. Memphis
Raines(Nicolas Cage)is a recently retired genius car thief that must come to
the rescue of his little brother(Giovanni Ribisi). Raines must gather a crew
and boost 50 exotic cars in one night in exchange for the life of his brother.
Cage can say so much with his mannerisms and expressions to make up for the
script. Robert Duvall wants to take charge of the movie so bad you can see it.
A blonde Angelina Jolie is sassy and sexy and that is enough. Gosh, she makes
me sweat. Will Patton is like a fish out of water. Ribisi is just a little over
the top, but after all his life is at stake.
Not one of the best action/crime flics, but sure is fun to watch. At times, Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie are at the flash point.
