Hey guess what? We made a video cuz everybody kept telling us "Hey, you dudes should make a video." Actually we made four videos and as long as we're at it a documentary of how we made 'em, sort of. At first Tommy didn't want to do them. He said, "If we're gonna be stupid let's get paid a lot instead of a little", but after two weeks of hanging around with beautiful models he thought maybe it wasn't so bad. We though we were so too cool, anyways, hope you dig 'em and run them backwards and forwards a lot. Love, Cheech And Chong. |

Reviews of the movie: Get Out of My Room
Hey, remember us, man? Cheech and Chong, man. We were like, you know, funny back then because we used to get stoned man, and do stuff and people would laugh because we looked funny and talked funny and did stuff you, know man? Man, we used to be really big man, like bigger than some really big things man. We had money for drugs, we had lots of women around to serve us the drugs and we had big houses that were full of drugs and women with drugs serving us drugs. Heeeeeee man, whoa yeah... it's like we did it you know because we wanted to do it. Sometimes we just did stuff because we thought it would be funny, you know man? Like this is. We did an album, so now we had to do something else, but not an album. You follow? So we did this man, it's not an album, it's like a video album, you know? But you can't play it on a record player man. You gotta play it on a video player man. Actually man, it's like you can't play this on a video player either man, because it's not a video, man. I mean, it's like a video album man, but it's on a DVD man. Sheesh man, times are changin', I still have an 8-track, man, and there weren't no DVDs, man, when we made this, man. Back then, DVD was still a sexually transmitted disease man. It was real bad, man. You think layer rot is bad? You should have seen what used to rot back then man. Whoa. I mean whoa! So this record/video/DVD album thing is like a collection of little things, like some interviews with us, us mucking around man, us not doin' much you know... just stuff man, tryin' to make you laugh man and it all connects with some music videos we made man so it kinda has a reason, but not really man because just doin' the videos would have been cheaper man, but because we shot a whole bunch of stuff around it man we could get more money to buy dope man and that's why we did it, you know? Sometimes you'll laugh, sometimes you'll go... I dunno man... you know, sheesh, it's short man, whaddya want? It's like 50 minutes or something, so you know, it doesn't go too long, which is good 'cause you won't get a sore butt or have to go to the toilet man, but you might want to make sure you have enough to smoke man, oh yeah and plenty of munchies in case you get hungry.
If you already have the video version of this, then I can't really offer you any enticement other than you don't have to rewind the DVD when you're done. Other than the added clarity of the format, the picture is only as good as the source, and the source isn't brilliant a lot of the time. Framed in what would have to be its original full frame aspect, many segments look like they were filmed on videotape on a budget of about nine cents. It has its good moments, but lots of bad to offset them as well. Colours are okay, clarity ranges from reasonable to very soft and it's mostly free from any transfer faults (most problems are source related). I doubt it was ever envisioned that the footage shot here was ever going to make it to a format like DVD. Maybe die-hard fans won't care so much.
With regards to the audio, a simple and hardly effective or dynamic single audio track can be found here in Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo. At best, it does the job. Sheesh, I'm not really sounding too impressed with this DVD so far, am I? Sorry, but I can't help it, it all just looks and sounds so "blah". Anyway, you won't have any problem understanding a thing Cheech and Chong say during their interview segments, and the same goes with all other speaking parts. Similarly, the lyrics to the songs are clear and the music is fine, but it all sounds rather unremarkable.
Finally, no extras are to be found, not even subtitles, which aren't extras anyway, but they probably would have listed them as extras if they had them, along with scene selections, like they do on dodgy bare discs.
