Movie Plot of: Envy
Sensible, hardworking Tim is climbing the managerial ladder, while daydreamer Nick can't seem to stay focused on the tasks at hand. But all of that changes when one of Nick's seemingly hairbrained ideas--a spray that makes dog poop disappear--takes off, making him filthy rich. Rather than leaving the neighborhood and his best friend, Nick turns his home into a mansion and his property into a veritable amusement park. Tim, meanwhile, laments his decision not to invest in Nick's invention early in the game, and his life begins to fall apart as envy takes over. This dark comedy directed by Barry Levinson (AVALON, TIN MEN) also stars Amy Pohler and Rachel Weisz. But it's Christopher Walken who is the real scene-stealer as a bizarre hippie-bum who befriends Tim when he's down and out, only adding to the mayhem.

Reviews of the movie: Envy
If you do not burst out into full-bellied laughter at least half a dozen times while watching this movie, I only hope your life insurance is fully paid up. Because, brother, face it, YOU'RE DEAD!
The most audacious and scurrilous plot in many years, it presents a solution to a problem that bedevils every American city millions of times every day. And does it with side-bursting humour.
The United States has a current population of over 280 million people.
There are three dogs for every two people and few if any are constipated.
Even fewer have learned to flush their waste down the toilet. People walk their dogs by the hundreds of thousands in every city in America and these dogs leave the remains of their last hearty meal in every nook and cranny.
That's the problem; I'll get to the solution in a minute.
Ben Stiller and Jack Black are life-long friends, happily married, each with two children.
They live side by side in a mid-range urban setting and work in the same factory.
Here's where the ENVY of the title enters and the audacity of the plot takes over.
The character played by Jack Black (immediately after his great success in "school of Rock") invents a spray-n-a-tin, which miraculously makes the "poo" disappear!
No one, even he knows why it works or more importantly, "where does the poo go".
And therein lies what might be called the "fly in the ointment" (incidentally, in the film, the dogs' fecal product is referred to - several hundred times - by its four-letter, straightforward Anglo-Saxon expletive.)
As a result of his invention, which is given the cutesy name "Vapoorize," Jack Black becomes a multimillionaire and builds a mansion whose luxury must be seen.
His wife decides to run for political office on a "conservation" ticket.
But her and her husband's downfall is assured when the dedicated conservationists demand to know: "Where does the - go?"
Meanwhile, Jack's friendship with Ben is under great stress because he now lives as a millionaire and Ben is still at the factory.
In the film, Christopher Walken once plays on of his "kook" roles, for he is famous, and his performance alone is worth the price of admission.
This one will indeed be ample ammunition for the laugh brigade
