Synopsis of the DVD Movie: 2 Fast 2 Furious

Speed--it's easy to get and it's as close as the nearest set of high-performance wheels. Brian O'Connor, now a disgraced cop, fell victim to it--and now he's paying the price. As far as his bosses and the FBI brass are concerned, the hothead undercover officer threw one of their largest investigations ever. After losing his badge and any chance of redemption along with it, O'Connor is given one last chance when the feds in Miami need his help to collar Carter Verone, a flashy businessman whose using his import/export business as a cover for an international money laundering cartel. Customs has had Verone under intense surveillance for over a year with nothing more to show for it than the kingpin's link to illegal street racing. With their backs against the wall and time running out, officials put out a call for O'Connor to do what he does best--talk the talk and push the metal. But the rule-breaking loner has his own demands before taking on the job. He insists on recruiting his childhood friend and ex-con Roman Pearce as his partner. The Feds and Agent Markham offer Pearce, an accomplished criminal with an aptitude for barrier-shattering speed, a deal--work with O'Connor and his impressive rap sheet will disappear. Now, it's last chance for both, ex-con and ex-cop, and their ticket out of disgrace is bringing down Verone. But the lines become blurred once again for O'Connor with the appearance of undercover agent Monica Fuentes, the key to entering Verone's world who may herself be in bed with the shady entrepreneur.

Movie Plot of: 2 Fast 2 Furious

Paul Walker returns as former cop Brian O'Conner who teams up with his ex-con pal Roman Pearce (Tyrese) to transport a shipment of 'dirty' money for shady Miami-based import-export dealer Carter Verone (Hauser), while actually working with undercover agent Monica Clemente (Eva Mendes) to bring Verone down.

Paul Walker returns in this action filled sequel to 2001's The Fast and the Furious. Brian O'Conner (Walker) has left LA due to his illegal actions from the first movie and now soars the streets of Miami making money here and there by street racing. Watched by Customs Agent Monica Fuentes(Mendes), Brian is caught by the police and is given a deal by Agent Markham and Bilkins to go undercover and try to bring down drug lord Carter Verone (Hauser)in exchange for his criminal record to be erased. Brian agrees but only if he is given permission to choose his partner. Brian heads home to Barsto, Arizona where he recruits an old friend Roman Pearce (Tyrese)to help him. Pearce agrees but only for the same deal Brian was offered. With the help of Monica, Brian and Rome work together to take down Verone.

Reviews of the movie: 2 Fast 2 Furious

Like a new-age Roger Corman B-picture fused with a Grand Theft Auto game (minus the enthralling theft portion)...
Which means that for fans of those types of movies and games, this should provide satisfactory pleasure for a couple of hours. Personally, I liked the first one, only cause it had a certain popcorn movie appeal that worked, and from Diesel showing off his skills as a lead in a Hollywood movie. And this is not to say I don't have a respect for filmmakers trying to capture the spirit and cinematic aloofness as a Corman film would, and GTA III and Vice City are great games. But the problem lies in that when the action sequences finally come to play, the thrills just aren't there, at least for me. Despite director John Singleton's need to have two or less-than-two second cuts of feet hitting on pedals, cars changing lanes, characters saying one liners like "How do you like them apples!", it comes off as, well, kind of boring.

And Singleton, who is usually better at doing urban drama pictures (and the occasional good remake like Shaft), is un-needed here. He brings a style, that's certain, as well as a hot-shot Tyrese Gibson (off of 2001's Baby Boy), however it seemed to be lacking something that should have been there, even in the super-charged climax down the highways and streets of Miami. I suppose for those who put the original on their top ten lists two years back this will be entertaining, and I'll admit I was grinning at a few jokes (and with Ludicrous' all-too-minor role). Yet, I know this is just one more to add to the lists of upcoming disapointments for this summer's film list.
