THE SCORPIONS - Animal Magnetism

"Animal Magnetism" is the seventh studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1980.

The album cover was created by Storm Thorgerson of the design firm Hipgnosis and, as with earlier Scorpions album sleeves, courted controversy. However unlike several of their previous album sleeves the controversy did not result in the cover being replaced with an alternate sleeve. Recalling the cover photo with the guy drinking the beer and the girl with the dog, Storm remarked "That one was funny. I don't think we figured it out. We just knew there was something rude somewhere." Scorpions bassist at the time, Francis Buchholz, recalls that, "Herman came up with the title for the album Animal Magnetism and we all liked it because it's an interesting title. So we had this guy Storm who was doing album covers for Pink Floyd, I think he did the one with the guy with the flames. So Storm came up with idea for the Animal Magnetism cover, I personally didn't like it, but the rest of the band loved it. I liked the dog though."

THE SCORPIONS Blackout

Blackout is the eighth studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1982 on EMI Germany Records and Mercury Records. After losing his voice during the writing of the album, lead vocalist Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and it was uncertain whether he would be able to record it. Demos of the material were recorded with Don Dokken as vocalist; however none of those recordings are featured on the album. Rudolf Schenker could not choose between his guitar solos on "China White", so the US and European releases differed in this small detail. A self-portrait of artist Gottfried Helnwein is featured on the cover of the album. Rudolf Schenker portrays this character in the "No One Like You" music video.

THE SCORPIONS Fly to the Rainbow

THE SCORPIONS  Fly to the Rainbow

Fly to the Rainbow is the second studio album by German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1974. In support of their Lonesome Crow album, Scorpions appeared as the opening act for the British rock band UFO. At the end of the tour, Scorpions lead guitarist Michael Schenker was asked to fill an open position as UFO's guitarist and accepted the role. Schenker's departure temporarily resulted in the breakup of the band but Rudolf Schenker and later Klaus Meine ultimately merged with the band Dawn Road which consisted of guitarist Ulrich Roth filling Michael's role, as well as drummer Jürgen Rosenthal, and bass guitarist Francis Buchholz. The new line up resumed under the Scorpions name and recorded "Fly to the Rainbow".

Album Cover art: When asked to comment on the cover art to the album, the band's former lead guitarist Uli Jon Roth said "Don't ask me what that cover means… I disliked it from the beginning. It looked ludicrous to me back then and looks just as bad today. It was done by a firm of designers in Hamburg, who had actually done a good job on the "Lonesome Crow" album before, but I think that time they failed miserably. As for the meaning, I can only guess, but I'd rather not…"

THE SCORPIONS Love at First Sting

"Love at First Sting" is the ninth studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1984 . This album is notable in that it was one of the first digitally recorded heavy metal albums ever released.

The original cover art created by Helmut Newton features a man and a partially nude woman locked in an embrace, with the man giving the woman a tattoo on her thigh. Despite the record company having shown the original cover art to retailers without any concerns, a complaint by Wal-Mart after the album was released resulted in PolyGram Records issuing a "clean" cover for use in several department store chains. The alternative cover was designed to be less controversial by simply showing a photo of the band members, which was the same photo on the inner sleeve.

THE SCORPIONS Savage Amusement

"Savage Amusemen"t is the tenth studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1988. It was the last Scorpions record to be produced by Dieter Dierks. The album was the follow-up to the successful "Love at First Sting "and had some musical differences when compared to its predecessor. The overall feel of the album shows that Scorpions wanted to experiment with some different genres, going to a more radio friendly style and incorporating more synthesized sounds. While there are still some straight hard rock songs, like "Don't Stop At The Top" and "Media Overkill", there are also progressive rock songs such as "Walking On The Edge" and "Passion Rules The Game".

THE SCORPIONS - Still Loving You 7" Single

"Still Loving You" is the song of Scorpions from their 1984 album Love at First Sting. It was the second single of the album, reaching #64 on Billboard Hot 100. In France, the single sold 1.7 million copies.

In an interview with Songfacts, Rudolf Schenker explained "It's a story about a love affair where they recognized it may be over, but let's try again."

The song is also considered a thinly veiled metaphor for a still divided Eastern & Western Germany. "Your pride has built a wall so strong that I can't get through, is there really no chance to start once again?" "only love can break down the walls someday" and "Yes I've hurt your pride and I know what you've been through, you should give me a chance, this can't be the end, I'm still loving you" were clear references to the Berlin Wall and the despair many Germans felt about their divided homeland.

The Scorpions - Taken by Force

THE SCORPIONS Taken by Force

"Taken By Force" is the fifth studio album by German heavy metal band Scorpions, released in 1977. This was the first Scorpions album to feature drummer Herman Rarebell and the final album to feature guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Roth left the band in 1978 following the end of the album's tour, and was eventually replaced by Matthias Jabs.

The original album cover photography was taken by Michael von Gimbut , returning for his third Scorpions album cover commission. Like their previous two albums, "Taken By Force" caused controversy with its cover art which again resulted in the artwork being replaced in most markets with an alternative cover using photographs of the band members.

THE SCORPIONS  Tokyo Tapes

"Tokyo Tapes" is a live album by German heavy metal band Scorpions. "Tokyo Tapes" was Scorpions' first live album, recorded at Nakano Sun Plaza (Tokyo's Nakano Ward, Japan) on 24 and 27 April, during the band's Japanese tour in 1978. These shows were guitarist Uli Jon Roth's last performances with the band, who had announced his departure after the release of "Taken by Force".

The original release was in August 1978 in Japan only with cover artwork of an embossed platinum Scorpion on a rose as opposed to a live shot of the band when it was eventually released in Europe in late 1978. It was released in January 1979 in the U.S.A.. Roth commented about the recording of the album: Tokyo Tapes was a peak time, we have played together for all these years and it all came together at that time. Particularly on the first show, which unfortunately wasn't recorded. There were three shows in Tokyo, the first one was by far the best, but the second one was good too. Those are the ones on the album, the second and the third that were used. The first one I thought was a lot better and I was disappointed that it wasn't recorded.

THE SCORPIONS Virgin Kiler (Best Buy Series)

"Virgin Killer" is the fourth studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions. It was released in 1976 and was the first album of the band to attract attention outside Europe. The title is described as being a reference to time as the killer of innocence. The original cover featured a nude prepubescent girl, which stirred controversy in the U.K., U.S. and elsewhere. As a result, the album was re-issued with a different cover in some countries.
