Recommended pre-requisites: I assume that the first pre-requisites have been met and that is a excellent Nikon photo camera, be ité D90, D300, D700, D3s or any other equivalent. Two items are very important
Memory Card - In order to have sufficient storage space for the high quality, high resolution images, the total storage capacity of the memory card is very important. It will allow you to store images using the highest image quality settings (in btoh Raw and jpeg format). On the Nikon D700 a 8GB will allow you to store around 250 images in both Raw and jpeg high quality format, or around 500 images in jpeg. While the 16GB memory card will allow you around 500 images in both raw and jpeg high quality, or ~1200 images using jpeg only.
For a one day of shooting a 16GB card is usually sufficient, is this is not the case you can get additional 8GB or 16GB cards as needed and offload the images to your PC in the evening or any other convenient moment.
The Nikon D700 uses the Compact Flash (Type I only) and supports UDMA. My recommendation is to use cards from brands like SANDISK, Kingston, Sony, Transcend with UDMA and at least 60MBs
Battery/Accu - While the standard supplied Nikon battery
last for sev
eral hundreds shots at normal shooting formats, the usage on the battery will increase for high-quality settings. Therefore a second a genuine Nikon spare battery asap. Always fully recharge the batteries at
the day of your shooting sessions and dont forget to pack the batteries with you. Based on some unpleasant experiences with un-branded batteries in the past, today I will only Nikon batteries in my camera. The battery required for the Nikon D700 is the Lithium-Ion EN-EL3e
.
